24: The Real Deal?

Anyone who saw 24 over the last two nights should take some of that to heart. It may be politically advantageous to denounce the war in Iraq or the War on Terror in general, but the hard truth is that if we don't finish our job in Iraq we will undoubtedly embolden the terrorist groups. The outcome of Iraq and the War on Terror will have lasting implications for generations to come. Anyone who disagrees is looking at the situation through rose colored glasses. Personally, I do not like to see our soldiers in harms way. Unfortunately that is where we are at this point. Perhaps if this had been addressed sooner, we would not be in such a fight. We are and we have to succeed. I don't think people who are against the war are bad people. They just want peace. What's wrong with that? The problem is that our enemy refuses to coexist. If they refuse to coexist then there is no peace. Everyone has some emotional attachment to the war, but relying exclusively on emotions will cloud the facts. Forget about WMDs, this is a much bigger struggle. We have a long road ahead and the terrorists know that Americans do not have the stomach for long conflicts and they are using the media to sway support for the war. In a lot of ways, they are more savvy at using the media than our own politicians. If you think Iraq is tough, just wait. Next stop Africa. The Middle East will seem like Grenada in comparison. It would be a shame to wait for things to start blowing up on our own streets before we realize the gravity of this.
